I'm Kathy Jentz, and I wear many hats in the world of gardening.
As the editor and publisher of Washington Gardener Magazine, I bring you all the latest on growing in the Mid-Atlantic region. From tasty edibles to vibrant ornamentals, I cover it all. You can also find me hosting the popular GardenDC Podcast, where I share my passion for plants in an informative and inspiring way.
Growing has always been a joy for me, and I believe it should be for everyone! That's why my philosophy is all about "inspiration over perspiration." My most recent book is called "Groundcover Revolution" and I wrote it to help you achieve that stress-free gardening dream. I also co-authored "The Urban Garden: 101 Ways to Grow Food and Beauty in the City," because everyone deserves a touch of green, even in tight spaces.
I'm the editor of several publications, including the Water Garden Journal, The Azalean, and Fanfare for the daylily society. I also use my expertise as the Green Media columnist for the Mid-Atlantic Grower newspaper, encouraging independent garden centers and plant breeders to embrace the power of social media.
Being involved in the gardening community is incredibly important to me. I'm the longtime president of the Silver Spring Garden Club and serve on the boards of several other horticultural organizations.
Sharing my knowledge is a true privilege. I've spoken on a wide range of topics, from deer-resistant gardens to making the most of small spaces. My presentations have even been honored at esteemed venues like Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the Philadelphia Flower Show, and the Historic Society of Washington, DC.
I'm excited to offer this online garden center for my readers and my community so that you can enjoy gardening with the plants and tools that will make you successful.
Happy Gardening!
